This past week our McLellan Cup Season came to an end in New Glasgow, with our teams winning the match over the teams from the Bluenose. We will be the Holder of the Cup as we enter into the new season next Fall. Congratulations to those that took part both victories, first here against Amherst and then in New Glasgow!
Sadly, Sydney had to withdrew from the McLellan Cup match scheduled for this week due to the recent snowstorm and the continuing challenge of getting things back to normal in the Cape Breton region. That match will be recorded as a DEFAULT due to the State of Emergency which has been declared in their area. The present holder, the Amherst Curling Club will advance to the next challenge at the New Caledonian Club in Pictou on Feb 14. Pictou has requested a START TIME OF 12:00 noon. For more information see the McLellan Cup website.
Folks, this year (2024) marks the 50th Aniversary of the Ship Hector Bonspiel. As alway the tournament is being held at the four Pictou county curling clubs; the Bluenose in New Glasgow, the Stellar in Stellarton, the Westville club in Westville and the New Caledonian in Pictou. This year there is a full bracket of 56 teams that will play matches from Friday evening until Sunday midday at all four of the clubs. [Do check if volunteers are needed at your club over the weekend – your time helps make this bonspiel a success.]
As most of you were likely expecting, curling is cancelled for tonight, January 29th.
Hello Club Members
This year marks 50 years for the Ship Hector Bonspiel, so they are selling ball caps to mark the occasion. Please see the attached poster for more information.
